Outdoor Art in the Neighbourhood

Murals are popping up all over Yonge Street as part of the Uptown Yonge BIA’s (UYBIA) initiative to beautify our neighbourhood!  Five murals have been completed so far by the BIA and two more have been added by the Bank of Montreal and Madison Developments. Two LPRO directors worked with the UYBIA on its Mural Committee and LPRO made a small donation to the Gratitude Garden Mural. Take a tour of the area and find all seven!

This mural depicts a scene from the 1400’s where an Indigenous Village in our area and rivers once freely flowed. It is located at Yonge and Keewatin. Artists: Mo Thunder and Shawn Howe in association with STEPS.

The student class at Clap Studio provided inspiration for what they are grateful for in everyday life. The students’ designs were brought to life by artist Mark Grimmer.

The Gratitude Garden Mural is a combination of paint and recycled ceramics located at Second Cup, Yonge and Albertus. Artists: Pam Lostracco and Cristina Delgado.

Growth through Gratitude Mural celebrates children and their relationship with nature and art. Mural is located at Best Season Fruits and Vegetables Sherwood Avenue and Yonge. Artist Jim Bravo Thiery

Gratitude to Mother Nature is a bold and beautiful Mural that graces the wall at Uncle Betty’s Yonge and Albertus. Artist: Faith Fetish

Two additional independently produced murals are both located at Yonge and Roselawn. Artists: Gosia Komorski anastatica.art zunaamir.art ashlyn.mundy.art

Hopefully there will be more art installations to come next spring. If you have a location in mind, let us know!
